TV Broadcasters can generate additional revenue by rebroadcasting their channels over the Internet to the 'three screens' (the PC, Mobile and IPTV) using either a subscription or free-to-view business model.

reKast has developed three products for this purpose: 3Kast, 3View and iLive. 3Kast and 3View can be purchased separately as standalone products or purchased together as iLive, a comprehensive web based application which supports the entire process of live broadcast redistribution over the Internet to any IP enabled device.

iLive is the first truly end-to-end proprietary software solution to fully support the 'three screens' paradigm. iLive includes both 3Kast, a flexible multi-format transcoding and content distribution solution used to convert existing live broadcasts to all Internet-ready formats, as well as 3View, an audience management system which underpins the broadcast workflow required to successfully rebroadcast a live TV channel to IP enabled devices.

3Kast is a multi-format transcoding and content distribution solution that modifies MPEG2 TV broadcasts so that they can be distributed over the Internet and viewed on the TV, PC and Mobile - the 'three screens'. The 3Kast platform converts and manages the distribution of MPEG2 broadcasts into all popular video and audio formats (H.263, MPEG-4, H.264/AVC, Windows Media 9 Video, Windows Media 9 Advanced Profile, VP6, AAC-LC, AAC-LTP, AMR-NB, G.711 aLaw and µLaw, Windows Media 9 Audio and MP3). 3Kast works seamlessly with dedicated streaming servers as well as Content Distribution Networks (CDNs) such as Akamai.

3View is an audience management system which is used to create, manage and monitor how live broadcasts are delivered to consumers. 3View includes the following modules:


  • iFone, using the latest adaptive bit-rate streaming technology, iFone is an application that allows broadcasters to securely deliver live programming to the iPhone.
  • iWeb, a web-based application and player which allows subscribers to watch live TV on their PC.
  • iTV, a management system which allows viewers to watch live broadcasts on their TV via an IP Set-Top-Box (STB).

3View can be used in conjunction with 3Kast or can be purchased as a standalone product.
